From Pain to Purpose: The Birth of Canny

Canny isn’t just another wellness brand—it’s a reflection of our personal journey, struggles, and healing. We’re Jonny and Carmen, partners in life and now in business. Canny was born out of a desire to give back and improve mental health by offering high-quality, organic wellness products and hosting community events focused on mental well-being.

For years, we both battled chronic pain and the emotional toll that came with it. After a severe football injury ended my (Jonny’s) career, I spiralled into depression and became dependent on painkillers and antidepressants. Carmen faced a similar struggle after a car accident left her with three bulging discs and persistent back pain. We both normalized taking painkillers just to get through the day, but deep down, we knew something needed to change.

Discovering a New Path to Mental Wellness

Our turning point came when we discovered the benefits of CBD for anxiety and pain management. Within six months, both Carmen and I were able to come off all our painkillers and  antidepressants. But it wasn’t just about the CBD—it was about learning how to truly care for our minds and bodies through meditation, self-care practices, and holistic healing methods. We realized that improving mental health is about more than just taking a product; it’s about embracing a lifestyle that nurtures well-being.

We wanted to share what we had learned, not just by selling CBD, but by offering real, proven methods to help people manage their mental health naturally. That’s how Canny came to life.

Our Mission: More Than Just CBD

At Canny, our mission is simple: to improve people’s lives. We do this not only through our high-quality, organic CBD products but also by embracing a broader approach to wellness. We offer a variety of natural products, including recently launched Lion’s Mane capsules, known for their cognitive and neuroprotective benefits. Our goal is to continuously expand our product line to include any natural supplements that support overall mental and physical well-being.

We don’t want to just sell products; we want to create spaces where people can connect, share their experiences, and support each other. Our monthly group hikes and the community events we plan are just the beginning. We envision Canny growing into a community-led brand that hosts retreats, expos, and comprehensive programs designed to guide people on their personal
development journeys. This holistic approach ensures that our brand remains flexible and inclusive, catering to a wide range of wellness needs.

The Importance of Quality in Wellness Products

With so many poor-quality CBD and wellness products flooding the market, we made it our priority to offer only the best. Our CBD is sourced from an organic- certified hemp farm in the UK and is made using traditional methods like cold pressing. Every product is third-party lab tested to ensure quality and effectiveness. But we’re not stopping at CBD—we plan to expand our offerings to include any natural products that can support mental well-being.

Overcoming Challenges Together

Building Canny hasn’t been without its challenges. From restrictive advertising rules to difficulties with payment processing and website hosting, we’ve faced our share of obstacles. But these hurdles only made us more determined. They tested our resilience, but we leaned on the very products and practices we promote—like CBD and meditation—to push through. We’re proud to have grown from an idea to a brand with four flagship products, now even available in local stores.

Why Mental Health Matters to Us

Mental health is a deeply personal issue for both of us. It’s something we’ve battled our entire lives, often in silence. Growing up, I struggled to express my emotions and often felt trapped in cycles of anger. Carmen faced her own demons, but through years of work, we’ve both come out the other side. We know how isolating it can feel to struggle alone, and that’s why we want Canny to be a beacon of hope for anyone dealing with similar issues. You’re not alone in this battle—there are people who care and who genuinely want to help.

Looking Forward: What’s Next for Canny

We’re just getting started. Our first community walk is happening soon, and we’re excited to continue hosting events that bring people together, help them connect, and make them feel better about where they are in life. In the long term, we see Canny growing into a brand known for its holistic approach to mental health. Whether it’s through holistic healing retreats, structured
programs, or new product launches, our focus will always be on helping people improve their mental well-being, one step at a time.
